Matthew 9:35-38
In Matthew 9:35-38, we read the story of Jesus, traveling through towns and villages, preaching and teaching in the synagogues, healing the sick. Among these journeys, Jesus has compassion on the people, as they were like lost sheep, with no direction as would been seen with a shepherd. In response, Jesus tells his disciples that “the harvest is plentiful, but the workers are few,” and instructs them to ask God for workers of the harvest. Who, in this message, does Jesus indicate are the workers? Who will reap the harvest, or be the shepherd among the sheep? How can the church today operate under such a message?
