Call to Worship

The Lord sits enthroned forever;
he has established his throne for justice,
he judges the world with righteousness;
he judges the peoples with uprightness.
The Lord is a stronghold for the oppressed,
a stronghold in times of trouble.
And those who know your name put their trust in you,
for you, O Lord, have not forsaken those who seek you.

Let us pray:

Send out your light and your truth, Lord, that they may lead us to your holy hill, and to your dwelling. Open our minds and hearts to receive the truth of your gospel, and as we receive the truth, we pray, Lord, set us free. Grant healing for the sick, protection for the oppressed, encouragement for the despondent, and hope for the faint of heart. Grant to those of us who are searching, doubting, seeking or questioning, your faith, peace, hope and love. Sustain us in both our despair and our joy; and strengthen us in every state with comfort, light, and tender care of your Holy Spirit, for we bring all of ourselves and our lives before you now, praying for you to search us and know us, to try us and know our anxious thoughts — and see if there be any hurtful way in us and lead us in the everlasting way. Glory to you, Father, and to you, Jesus, and to the Holy Spirit, as it was in the beginning, is now, and will be forever, Amen.

Matthew 5:9 (NIV)

Blessed are the peacemakers, for they will be called children of God.
