Call to Worship

Come all the ends of the earth.
Remember and turn to the Lord,
and let all the families of the nations worship before you.
For this we come, O Lord, from among the nations, to sing to your name.
That all the ends of the earth remember and turn to the Lord and that all the families of the nations worship before you.

Psalm 111:1-4

Praise the Lord!
I will give thanks to the Lord with my whole heart,
in the company of the upright, in the congregation.
Great are the works of the Lord,
studied by all who delight in them.
Full of splendor and majesty is his work,
and his righteousness endures forever.
He has caused his wondrous works to be remembered;
the Lord is gracious and merciful.

Let us pray:

Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, from all eternity you have been fully alive, full of love, perfect in every way. This is who you are: holy, good, wonderful, beautiful, majestic, and beyond our comprehension. And yet it is this same holiness, goodness, and beauty which does not leave you far off and distant from us, but means instead that you draw near to us, to bring us into saving fellowship with you. Your holiness makes us holy, your goodness makes us good, and your love poured out for us wells up within us so that we too can be poured out for others.

Thank you for this astonishing work in our midst. Thank you for doing something literally incredible; something which we would not believe unless you open our eyes. We pray that you would renew us in faith, open our eyes to the things we have ignored, and revive us again. Lord, you know that this time has been draining for all of us; many of us have put in twice as much effort to produce half as much work, and we are discouraged by our weakness. Help us, O Lord, and revive us by your Word and your Spirit, so that we may keep doing the work to which you have called us. We pray with the Psalmist: establish the work of our hands! Make us ready and willing to follow wherever you lead, and to do so trusting that you will work in us to accomplish more than we know. We pray these things through Jesus Christ our Lord, Amen.

Feel free to read along with Pastor Paul when he reads this scripture:

1 Thessalonians 2:8 (NIV)

Because we loved you so much, we were delighted to share with you not only the gospel of God but our lives as well.
