Call to Worship

Give thanks to the Lord, for he is good;
his love endures forever.
Let the redeemed of the Lord tell their story—
those he redeemed from the hand of the foe,
those he gathered from the lands,
from east and west, from north and south.

Joshua 1:9 (NIV)

Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the LORD your God will be with you wherever you go.

Let us pray:

Lord Jesus, this morning we come to you as the True Vine, and we come to your Father as the Vinedresser. It is in you that we live and move and have our being, Jesus; and apart from you, we can do nothing. We beg, therefore, for more of your Spirit in our lives, hearts, minds, and relationships. Meet us, God, where we are, for we are your body, and you are the hope of our salvation.

Lord God, your word says that every branch in you that does not bear fruit, you take away, and every branch that bears fruit, you prune. Father, we desire to be fruitful, and yet we fear and resist the shears you hold in your hand. Temptations hound us, and fears assail us. So, give us the courage we need to open ourselves up to your loving, tender hand.

Continue your work of reshaping us into your image, Lord, and bring those things into our lives that we need to make us holy in your sight. Wash our hearts, and make us whole, Father. Renew our spirits and minds according to the character of your Son. Open our eyes to the truth of your love, and help us to receive the satisfaction of your presence, as we fix our hearts on you, Jesus.

For gifts of encouragement, write a note or draw a picture for someone who may need encouragement at this time. Have someone address the envelope and place a stamp on it. Or deliver it in person (keep that six foot social distance) to a neighbor or loved one.
