Then Jesus came to them and said, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.” (Matthew 28:18-20)

A vision comes from the heart of God—it is not man-made. God gives visions, but He also gives a specific vision to a specific group of people. God’s vision is a driving force that should impact everything that local church does. A group of people who know in their bones God’s vision for them is a group of people who know that they were made for exactly this. “Where there is no vision, the people perish” (Proverbs 29:18).

A Vision Statement is a local church’s picture given from the mind of God of what He desires our local church to be and do. It is derived through much prayer and is our best understanding of the reason why God put us as His church in this specific locale. A Vision Statement means that a church will live very intentionally—all that is done is for a reason—to fulfill God’s vision given to us.

Discovery’s Vision Statement is continuous in nature. We are in a process of spiritual growth that does not end. This process is necessary to have a vital ministry. It begins with Christ and continues with His followers.
